Energy World June 2016
How can electric vehicles, renewable electricity and smart power distribution systems contribute to greener city living? The first article in our feature on fuels and energy used in transport addresses this very issue. We also take a look at evolving battery technologies for electric vehicles and parallel developments in advanced propulsion systems for trains – batteries could also play a part in rail transport.
Our second theme is energy purchasing and management, starting with an assessment of the role the EU has played in encouraging the use of low energy and sustainable technologies in UK buildings. Further articles cover innovative funding arrangements for energy management in the educational sector, the use of ISO 50001 as part of an energy management strategy and the views of one energy purchasing advisor on UK energy costs and policies.
As the EI has itself published a new guide to energy management, we take a look at this on page 31.
Our extensive UK and international news coverage, together with a guest viewpoint from Lawrence Slade of trade association Energy UK, completes the issue.
