Call to postpone changes to Russia’s oil and gas tax regime

Lawmakers have asked Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to postpone changes to the country’s oil and tax regime which could lead to a 20% spike in gasoline prices, according to Ivan Grachyov, Head of the Lower House of the Russian Parliament’s Energy Committee. The price of gasoline in Russia rose more than 9% in January–October 2014, fuelled by higher inflation and the weaker rouble. The tax changes are due to be enforced from 1 January 2015.
