RWE Dea brings Breagh field onstream

RWE Dea has brought the UK North Sea Breagh gas field onstream. Three production wells are producing up to 2.75mn cm/d from the field, which is estimated to hold up to 19.8bn cm of gas. Up to 1.1bn cm of gas is expected to be produced during the first phase of development (2014–2018), with a peak production of 4mn cm/d forecast by early 2014.

Breagh is located in UK North Sea blocks 42/12a and 42/13a. RWE Dea is the operator, holding a 70% interest, with Sterling Resources holding the remaining 30%. The field is being developed via a single normally unmanned platform. A second phase of development with a possible second platform is reported to be under consideration.
