Toxicology of n-pentane (CAS no. 109--66--0). R. McKee et al. J. Appl. Toxicol., November-December 1998, 18(6), 431--442.

The purpose of the investigation described was to enlarge the toxicity database on n-pentane in order to assess issues related to classification, occupational exposure limits, and risk assessment. From the results, which are presented and discussed, it is considered that there is no reason to reduce the current occupational exposure recommendations. Although there are some safety issues relating to the flammability of n-pentane, the absence of any demonstrable toxicity at high treatment levels indicates that the risk of adverse health effects is minimal for all segments of the population. 40 refs.
