Production management of electrical submersible pumps. Anon. JPT, October 1998, 50(10), 44, 46. (Synopsis SPE paper 49189).
Wellsite management of ESPs can be improved by use of expert-system technology to combine real-time sensor information with production-engineering-knowledge rules. Details are given of expert-system software to demonstrate the capability of managing wells equipped with ESPs, undertaken by Arco Alaska Inc. to develop the West Sak field on the North Slope. Instrumentation, well performance analysis, inferring flow from tubinghead pressure, unloading and start-up, optimization of individual well and field performance, and modular procedures are presented and discussed.
