Dynamic stress behaviour in catalytic combustors. A.L. Boehman. Trans. ASME, J. Energy Resources Technol., September 1997, 119(3), 164--170.
Dynamic stress behaviour in catalytic combustion of methane has been simulated under transient warm-up, cool-down, and cyclic conditions. Details are presented of the numerical model which combines a 2-D solution to the transport equations, solution of an energy balance on the monolith wall, and the NIKE 3D structural analysis code to predict thermal stresses. The results are presented and discussed together with tabulated and graphical data. 23 refs.
