A low-cost semisubmersible by Aker Engineering is described that has been designed in response to increased demand for deepwater activity by oil companies. Details are outlined of an ideal platform concept. Construction details for a hull, mooring and riser are presented and hull and topside fabrication, cost and schedule are reported.
