Supercritical extraction of coal with water and toluene. (In German). K. Ciahotny and R. Steiner. Erdol Erdgas Kohle, November 1996, 112(11), 471--474.

Consideration is given to the supercritical extraction of two kinds of Czech coal---hard coal and lignite respectively, using water or toluene under near-critical conditions (250 to 400 degrees C, and 300 bar). Mass balances of the products obtained---extracted coal residues, extracts, and gaseous products---are given with respect to extraction temperature and extracting agent. Adsorption properties of solid extraction residues are determined and compared with those of commercially available activated carbon. 8 refs.
