Mechanistic modeling of n-heptane cracking on HZSM-5. B.A. Watson, M.T. Klein and R.H. Harding. Ind. Engng. Chem. Res., May 1996, 35(5), 1506--1516.

A mechanistic model was developed by using the reaction family approach. The model correlated well with experimental data. The effects of temperature and catalyst Si/Al ratio were studied. The model was used to investigate the controlling reaction steps. Carbonium ion cracking, scission and hydride transfer were the kinetically significant reactions. 36 refs.
