Committee 1.1 stochastic modelling and prediction of sea waves and sea states. G.A. Athanassoalis. Proc. 13th Ship and offshore structures congress, Vol. 1, Environment Report, Chapter 4, pages 15--21. (See abstract 884 for complete reference).

Consideration is given to nonlinear wave theories and irregular wave kinematics and the probability structure of ocean surface and wave parameters is reviewed. Stochastic models for intermediate-depth waters and for diffracted waves are also examined and the modelling of wave climate and statistical prediction of extreme conditions is discussed.
