Pipeline construction activity in 1998 is reviewed. The main factors promoting active pipeline construction are described. They are the increasing US demands for natural gas for use as an economical fuel, and the need to supply natural gas to untapped markets. Gas transmission lines in the US are discussed and details of projects by 15 major gas transmission companies are described. Major projects by 6 different Canadian companies and 7 international companies are also summarized. Product and crude oil pipeline projects for Ashland, Colonial, and Olympic pipeline companies are listed.
