New refinery stream profiles available. Anon. Hydrocarbon Processing, August 1997, 76(8), 63--65.

Work carried out by the Petroleum Environmental Research Forum to meet legislative requirements for emissions is described. Research in 12 areas includes emission monitoring, dispersion modelling, VOc and NOx emission control, risk assessment and refinery stream specifications. Process streams and processing units included in the study are listed. Data for 26 different petrochemicals are presented together with specification results for 12 components of gasoline obtained by catalytic cracking. Data collection and analysis is described. The main advantages are improving emission estimates, preparing more accurate operating permits and compliance reports, and developing realistic risk assessments.
