Thousands of insulation jobs lost over Christmas

The government's previous support schemes that made insulation cheap or free for households were cancelled in December 2012. The new replacement scheme, the Green Deal, will be launched on 28 January. The result has been thousands of households cancelling installations because of the lapse in funding. According to the Insulation Industry Forum (IIF), which polled its members on 7 December and 9 January, 1,782 insulation jobs have been lost, while a further 1,124 had been put on notice.
