Malaysia’s Petronas has signed a heads of agreement (HoA) with Total of France to jointly study the development and production potential of K5, a sour gas field with up to 70% carbon dioxide (CO2) content, located offshore Sarawak. The scope of the study will include a review of carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) options. If the study finds a viable development solution, K5 will be the first gas field with more than 50% CO2 content to be developed in Malaysia.
