The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has supported the integration of the air transport industry in market-based emissions trading systems aimed at reducing global warming, writes Keith Nuthall. Its ruling assembly also authorised a feasibility study on creating a global air industry emissions trading scheme and on developing detailed principles for national governments extending emissions trading to international aviation.
