The International Energy Agency is set to cut its estimate for world oil demand this year if the SARS virus continues to threaten economic growth, reported Reuters. Its last forecast predicted growth of 1.1mn b/d to 78mn b/d this year, the best growth in four years. But this optimism may have to be tempered in the light of SARS and its impact on economic growth.
