A consortium of Bechtel Petroleum Chemical of the US, Sinopec Engineering of China and UK-based Foster Wheeler Energy has been awarded a project management contract to support a major petrochemical complex in southern China. The contract was awarded by CNOOC and Shell. The project involves the construction of an 800,000 t/y ethylene cracker, together with downstream plants, utilities and infrastructure. The complex is to be commissioned by the end of 2005.
