Anadarko buys BP's Al Rayyan assets

US independent Anadarko Petroleum has acquired BP's interests in blocks 12 and 13 offshore Qatar, where its plans to increase investment from USD 80m to USD102m. Anadarko is now operator of the blocks and plans to install a permanent steel platform on the Al Rayyan field in block 12 early in 2003. The US oil firm now owns a 92.5% stake in the blocks with a target production of 35,000 barrels per day from the field.
