Noble buys into Chinese offshore blocks
Energy Development Corp., (EDC), a Chinese subsidiary of US independent Noble Affiliates, has acquired a 50% interest in South China Sea blocks 16/02, 16/05 and 26/35 from Devon Energy Corporation who remains operator. The blocks encompass around 2m acres in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. Three wells are planned on the licenses commencing this year. Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) will have the right to participate up to 51% in the development of any discovery.
