BP Amoco's Arco deal close to approval
The US Federal Trade Commission could approve BP Amoco's $30bn acquisition of Atlantic Richfield (Arco), the US oil group, as early as this week. Such approval could come as a result of resolving Exxon Mobil's legal challenge to the sale of Arco's Alaska assets to Phillips Petroleum, said people familiar with the situation.
