M Meineke, Green rail must stay on track, Energy World, June 2020, p 16

In UK, a review of rail transportation concludes that there is a strong decarbonising case for conversion from diesel fuel to solar power and electricity generally, particularly hydrogen fuel cells. Solar power has been adopted in the rail line at Aldershot, and the Coradia iLint is the first fuel cell train introduced in Germany. In UK, all diesel-only trains should be removed by 2040, with the first hydrogen-fuelled train Hydroflex launched in 2019, plus the design of the Breeze.
