First large-scale solar project in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has announced that the Sakaka Solar PV Plant – the country’s first utility-scale renewable power project – has been connected to the national grid. 

The project has commenced initial production under a pilot phase, before being stepped up to full commercial operation. 

Awarded to an ACWA Powerled consortium at a world record tariff of $2.34/kWh the 300 MW project will supply power to 45,000 households in nearby Al- Jouf.
