Romania liberalises energy sector
Romania’s electricity market for household consumers became fully liberalised in January 2018 and the price for electricity is now freely negotiated between consumers and suppliers, according to CMS Legal. It reports that: ‘Consumers have the option to return to the universal service market at any time, even if they have previously agreed to obtain electricity via a competitive regime. However, the price of electricity in the liberalised market is expected to be lower than in the regulated segment since the universal service market is a safety market.’
