UK needs a ’stronger commitment to sustainable transport’, Energy World, October 2016, p 8

In UK, the Environmental Audit Committee reports that the uptake of ultra low emission vehicles (ULEV) is too low to meet the UK’s climate change targets.   Air quality targets for 2010 will not be met before 2020, by which time 9% of all new cars should be ULEV.   In the first half of 2016, over 51 000 alternatively-fuelled vehicles were registered, representing 3.2% of new registrations compared with 2.7% for the same period in 2015.   A range of innovative ideas is listed to ease the emissions problem.
