Energy World March 2015
We devote a large part of this issue to carbon capture and storage (CCS); described in the first article from page 14 as a vital part of the future UK energy infrastructure, as we are still some way from seeing a commercialscale project in place. Subsequent articles take a more international view – examining the impact of currently low oil prices on CCS take-up, and the substantial R&D effort being made worldwide. We then return to the UK with a description of a CCS project proposed for industrial – not power – sites in the North East.
The issue also includes articles on the demand side of energy – how threedimensional modelling is advancing low energy building design; and a thoughtful piece on smart cities and future urban living.
Two more articles cover the story of the privatisation of the UK electricity industry, as related in a new book; and round-up our series of ‘looking back to look forward’ interviews with influential energy practitioners.
As always, we include extensive home and international news sections, and a viewpoint article – this month from the energy industry trade association Energy UK.
