The largest privately funded rooftop solar installation in Australia

The largest privately funded rooftop solar installation in Australia, located at Australian data centre company NEXTDC’s Port Melbourne facility.

The plant is owned and operated by NEXTDC, and comprises over 1,500 solar panels from solar company REC, covering 3,000 m² of rooftop space. The plant produces 550 MWh of electricity per year and the energy produced is used directly by NEXTDC. The company states that the drive to achieve a greater self-sufficiency in its power generation means it can lock down the costs of the resource. The plant delivers 5% of the electricity used at the site.
