Energy World November 2018
You can’t miss our major feature article in this issue – an examination of the first legislation to set a carbon emissions reduction target into national law in the world; its effects and lessons, and the Climate Change Act in today’s world of the Paris Agreement and beyond. See page 14 onwards.
Beyond this we switch to thermal energy, or heat. We start with an article on policy development on decarbonisation of the UK heat market. This is followed by three technology pieces looking at: hydrogen as a replacement for natural gas where this is used for heating; putting industrial waste heat to use; and the role for heat pumps in Europe’s decarbonisation effort.
Then onto energy use in transport, starting with an article describing tentative steps being taken towards electric propulsion for shipping – with passenger ferries being an early application. Then a piece that discusses the slow development of a new wave of alternative liquid transport fuels that don’t cost the earth.
