Wave energy for Hawaii

A 20 kW wave energy device, Azura, has started producing power for the island of Hawaii. The project, funded by the US Department of Energy and the US Navy, is located at the Navy’s Wave Energy Test Site in Kanehoe Bay in Oahu. The 45 tonne device can capture energy from both the heave (up/down) and surge (front/back) motions of waves.
