China has begun building a 200 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in the Gobi desert. The 2,550 ha plant is in Qinghai province and will be the country’s first large-scale CSP power plant under commercial operation, according to the Qinghai Solar-Thermal Power Group which is developing the plant.
