Petroleum Review March 2011

This month’s magazine includes the first of our IP Week 2011 reviews, highlighting the speeches made at the IP Week Lunch and Dinner. These looked at the energy challenge and the role the industry will play going forwards in developing new technologies and new forms of sustainable energy in a bid to combat climate change. The speakers agreed that the energy markets were working in response to the global economic downturn and early stages of recessionary recovery, and that the sector could show the world how hard work, risk and reward, innovation and partnerships could bring about economic and social progress across the globe.

We also take a closer look at the Middle East region, in particular Iraq, which has a key role to play in the global energy market going forwards – although those wishing to do business there will need to manage the risks effectively in order to reap the rewards.

This issue also highlights the work the Energy Institute is undertaking in a bid to encourage continuous workforce involvement in health and safety best practice.
