Petroleum Review January 2012
We begin 2012 with a review of the top 10 business risks facing the oil and gas sector and highlight the hurdles for Europe in keeping its lead in the global energy transition to 2020. The issue also reflects on key digital oil field trends, including the development of data standards, and the thorny issue of cyber-security.
Continued advances in offshore technology are opening up the Arctic and we look at some of the latest developments, both above and below the surface. This month we also review the implications for the UK of a future reliant on gas to ensure energy security, affordable prices and emissions reductions; outline how ‘flexibility’ is key to driving the alternative fuels sector forward; and explain how becoming an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) could help you realise your full earning potential. The magazine also outlines how knowledge sharing will have a vital role to play in the development of future CCS projects.
From this month onwards, both Petroleum Review and Energy World will feature news pages dedicated to EI activities. It is hoped this will highlight the various areas of the EI’s work to our wider readership. These new pages will feature reports from recent branch events, the latest acquisitions in the library, along with member profiles and an events calendar.
