Petroleum Review March 2012
This month’s issue includes the first of our IP Week 2012 special features, highlighting the presentations during day one of the programme, the theme of which was ‘New frontiers, new future’. Addressing this year’s IP Week Lunch, UK Energy Minister Charles Hendry spoke of the important role the UK’s oil and gas sector had in maintaining security of supply for the UK energy market and how government and industry needed to work together for mutual future benefit. Robert W Dudley, Group Chief Executive, BP, spoke at the IP Week Dinner, outlining the company’s recovery post-Deepwater Horizon and the importance of strengthening the relationship between industry and society in the future.
We also provide an overview of the latest developments in the global E&P seismic sector, a business in which the balance between technology and economics is sometimes at odds. In addition, themagazine looks at the recent rise in corporate spin-offs and discusses how the procurement organisation in leading energy companies is evolving from a transactional function to strategic enabler.
The Middle East is the regional feature this month, including articles on Iraq, Syria and Israel, as well as a summary of the special Middle East session held during IP Week.
