Petroleum Review September 2012
This month’s issue includes our annual review of E&P activity in the North Sea. Following a slow 2011 – where few projects came onstream and overall North Sea production declined – recovery in the main Norwegian and UK sectors has been stimulated by high oil prices and the need to develop fields while infrastructure is still in place. We focus on progress made on the Norwegian continental shelf in particular, where at least 30 major capital projects are currently underway.
The changing realities facing the oil and gas industry include operational challenges that require fast technology innovation – this issue looks at how the major oil companies have invested in technology R&D, and how the companies of the future can maintain their operational integrity, meet global energy demand and satisfy shareholder expectations at the same time. We also look at the improved efficiency and design of gas turbine technology, and the advances being made in the design of tanks for LNG ships and FLNG vessels.
The magazine focuses on the aviation sector and looks at the technological innovations being made to improve the performance of kerosene in order to reduce emissions and the cost of fuel to airlines. We also provide an update on work by the Energy Institute’s Aviation Committee on the latest jet fuel handling developments.
