Petroleum Review December 2012

This month’s Petroleum Review begins with an overview of the global oil and gas sector’s cautious approach to the adoption of cloud computing in a bid to reduce infrastructure costs, improve IT agility and resolve mass data storage challenges. This is followed by our annual review of E&P developments down under, where the ‘golden age of gas’ is leading to fundamental changes that are reshaping Australia’s petroleum industry with the major expansion of LNG capacity. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, the government has been progressing a number of legislative reviews to ensure that its buoyant oil and gas sector follows international best practices.

The magazine also provides an overview of the latest trends in the shipping market, including the adoption of ‘slow steaming’ and new charter agreements focused on energy efficiency in a bid to cut fuel costs. In addition, we feature articles looking at the development of integrated governmentfacing strategies as international oil companies look to build productive relationships with host countries, and new coal to syngas developments that could lower plant costs and even create extra revenue streams for operators.
