Petroleum Review July 2013

This month’s issue of Petroleum Review looks at some of the challenges facing the global LNG sector, a market set to become more complex as US LNG imports join the flood of new capacity planned in 2015 and beyond. We also review marine sector plans to develop LNG as a clean transport fuel and outline Trinidad and Tobago’s goal of becoming the first country in the world to utilise marine CNG as a method of exporting gas.

Industry attention is increasingly focusing on the reserves potential of the Arctic. We explain the issues surrounding regulating E&P activity in the region and provide an update on the work of a joint industry project looking to improve the technologies and methodologies employed for Arctic oil spill response.

We also outline how larger oil and gas companies can improve their exploration performance by developing the exploration-oriented culture favoured by smaller independents, and explain how investing in re-refineries could offer both strategic and financial benefits to operators.

Our annual review of North America highlights recent developments in the US upstream arena, including details of the latest licensing round in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as prospects in the Canadian oil sector.
