Petroleum Review September 2013
This month’s issue of Petroleum Review includes our annual review of North Sea E&P activity, where a combination of sustained high oil prices, limited economic recovery and supportive government tax policy, most notably in the UK, led to an increased number of field start-ups in 2012 compared to 2011. However, proposed tax changes in Norway may take their toll on future planned developments in the Norwegian sector.
We also look at how E&P companies can achieve better business performance results through the improved use of technology and report that a wide range of investors are showing renewed appetite to back bright ideas with global oil and gas applications. Such new technology includes the development of ‘Tardis-like’ metal organic frameworks (MOFs) which could be used to store much more gas than an empty cylinder of the same size.
