Petroleum Review December 2013

This month’s Petroleum Review begins with our annual review of E&P developments in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, oil and gas exploration efforts are more widespread than for decades, both on- and offshore. We also report the latest on Australia’s position in the global LNG market. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, the expansive and largely underexplored continental shelf is attracting growing interest from global operators.

This issue discusses the industry’s attitude to technology innovation in the IT sector in the changing energy landscape. We look at how the development of a common infrastructure to merge disparate modes of communication is gathering pace in the oil and gas industry.

We also provide an overview of the latest trends in the shipping market, including how tightening environmental regulations and new forms of bunker fuel are calling time on traditional marine fuel.
