Small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) could be used in the US

Small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) could be used as part of the alternative energy solutions stipulated to make up at least 25% of all the energy consumed by US Federal agencies by 2025 as part of President Obama’s Federal sustainability plan.

As part of the plan US Federal agencies are instructed to cut their greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% over the decade. SMRs are deemed an alternative energy source, alongside renewables and power with carbon capture and storage.
