Cuadrilla secures initial environmental permit approval

The UK Environment Agency has approved environmental permits for shale gas firm Cuadrilla Resources at a site in north-west England. The approval is pending a second-stage consultation during which the public can comment on the Agency’s draft permits. Cuadrilla plans to drill a four-well exploration programme in Lancashire. If approved, Cuadrilla’s operations will be subject to stringent environmental rules about wastewater disposal.
