Sellafield Encapsulated Product Store 3 (EPS3)

Decorative image New The newly-opened Encapsulated Product Store 3 (EPS3) is the latest edition to the suite of facilities designed to store intermediate level waste (ILW) in purpose-built above ground storage buildings on the Sellafield nuclear site. The store, which contains over  32,000 m3 of concrete and 7,300 tonnes of reinforcing steel, represents the latest generation in nuclear waste storage, design and construction, says Sellafield Ltd, which is responsible for decommissioning the UK’s nuclear legacy on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. It is capable of storing over 29,000 waste drums.
