Four Canadian LNG export projects a step closer

Canada’s Ministry of Natural Resources has given final approval to four LNG export projects planned for British Columbia, reports Hazardous Cargo Bulletin. The four facilities – Pacific Northwest LNG, Prince Rupert LNG, WCC LNG and Woodfibre LNG – have already received approval from the National Energy Board but are awaiting various federal and state assessments. Together, the four will be capable of exporting up to 73.4mn t/y of LNG to target markets in Asia. The first to come onstream is likely to be the small (2.1mn t/y) Woodfibre LNG plant in Squamish, which could be operational by late 2016.
