Conoco secures DoE approval for Alaska LNG project

The US Department of Energy (DoE) is reported to have approved ConocoPhillips’ application to ship the equivalent of 40bn cf of natural gas as LNG over a two-year period from its plant on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, to countries which have free trade agreements with the US. A separate application from ConocoPhillips to ship to non-FTA countries, such as Japan, remains pending before the DoE.
