Petrobras’ proven pre-salt reserves up 43% in 2013

Petrobras reports that its proven pre-salt reserves were up 43% in 2013 compared to 2012, following the drilling of some 42 wells and record production of 390,000 b/d from the pre-salt layer in the the Campos and Santos Basins. The pre-salt now accounts for more than a quarter of the company’s total proven reserves.

Petrobras plans to connect 17 new wells to platforms already installed in the pre-salt Santos Basin hub in 2014. Two new platforms are also due onstream in the second half of the year – the Cidade de Ilhabela platform in the Sapinhoá Norte field, and the Cidade de Mangaratiba platform in the Iracema Sul field – which will increase daily production capacity by 300,000 barrels of oil in the Santos Basin. A further five new wells will be connected to the two new platforms, bringing a total of 22 new production wells planned this year.
