Elbas Island expansion plans

El Paso’s Southern Liquefaction Co and Shell have agreed to proceed with the second planned phase at the Elba Island liquefaction plant project near Savannah, Georgia, which will add a further one or two trains at the facility. Phase one, involving six liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of 1.5mn t/y, is due onstream in late 2016/early 2017; the second phase will be finished a year later. Shell’s small-scale liquefaction technology has been selected, which will shorten construction time. The project remains under review by the US Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC).
