Sweet hydrogen: how sugar could help satisfy the world's energy needs

Sugar is an abundant natural resource that has the revolutionary potential of being converted into hydrogen. Hydrogen is a clean fuel, three times more energy efficient as petrol, can be used to generate electricity and produces only water as a byproduct. Exploiting biomass such as trees and plants is a renewable source of sugars, and turning sugars into hydrogen could lead a change in global energy production.
