Europe funds project to develop hydrogen storage tanks for cars, Professional Engineering, 11 May 2005, p 4

In Europe, 18 research laboratories are combining to undertake a three-year Hydrogen Storage Research Training Network (HyTrain) in order to resolve the problem of storing hydrogen in cars, since tanks for hydrogen stored as either pressurised gas or liquid refrigerated at 20K occupy excessive space and weight. One of the major investigations will be concerned with complex hydrides formed from alkali metal and aluminium. The project co-ordinator, Professor Keith Ross of Salford, expects results by 2008.
