The governmant has commiutted itself to building 7,000 giant offshore windmills by 2020 to meet EU targets on renewable energy. The largest concentration in the world will, it is claimed, power every home in the country at a cost of £ 50,000 million, considerably more than the cost of 7 nuclear power stations which would be needed top power thountry should the wind fail to blow.
