It's not just in Britain that there are major efforts underway to find a way to keep burning large quantities of coal for power generation without doing too much damage to the environment. Here, Andrew Cox describes the FutureGen project, which aims to combine several technologies to drastically cut carbon emissions from the first of a new generation of clean coal-fired power stations planned for the US.
