The developments is reported of a new device called Oil Swallow, which it is claimed can remove oil from the surface of the water at an efficiency rate of 70%. Compared with a typical rate for units currently in use of around 12%. Thus for the new device a recovery capacity of 840 000 litres/minute. Details are presented of this portable oil spill system and deployment techniques are described.
