Wireline well-tractor technology for horizontal-well logging and intervention. Anon. JPT, November 1997, 49(11), 1258, 1259. (Synopsis SPE paper 38757).
In 1996, the first offshore testing of wireline-driven downhole tractors took place through the combined efforts of Statoil, Maritime Well Service, and Welltec. Details are given of the Well-Tractor W T system which is designed to run with standard wireline equipment and tools available in the field. Its logging mode and tractor mode are described and field experience in the North Sea is outlined. Consideration is given to W T planning, drive-section wheel size, cable considerations, and job planning.
